THE TORONTO PARTY
LEADING THE WAY

A HISTORY OF THE PARTY CO-FOUNDERS

Party co-founders, Stephen Thiele and Brian Roussie, have been active in Canadian politics for decades. They led the way in bringing the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada and the Canadian Alliance together under one united Conservative Party. Under their leadership and vision - and two years before the formal merger of the PC Party and CA - their riding, Etobicoke Centre, was the first federal riding to publicly declare that they had come together under a statement of 21 principles and values.

In 2006, Stephen and Brian helped organize a community of 160 homes in central Etobicoke to receive an aerial treatment of BTK to combat the devastating gypsy moth caterpillar. In a span of a few weeks, they raised over $40,000 from the community, worked with their federal MP, Borys Wrzesnewskyj, to get Transport Canada approval for the treatment by helicopter, and worked with city officials and police to obtain road closure permits. The gypsy moth aerial spray program that Stephen and Brian helped deliver to Etobicoke residents was the first such program in the City of Toronto.
