Created in October 2006, The Toronto Party offers Torontonians a non-partisan voice in municipal politics. We are issues oriented instead of ideologically-based. It is our goal to ensure that the City of Toronto grows, and that it is a place for businesses to locate and to create jobs for Toronto's highly-educated and skilled population.

In 2007, we joined the majority of Torontonians in opposing a municipal land transfer tax and a motor vehicle registration fee. Mayor Miller, and his supporters on City Council, passed the taxes in any event.

In a city that is not growing - where job losses have mounted - these taxes represent bad policy choices.

As stated by William Robson of the C.D. Howe Institute, an independent policy think-tank, taxes like the municipal land transfer tax send the message that people are not wanted in our city.

If you agree that Toronto's municipal government is headed in the wrong direction,  then please take the time to join us. We are the only city-wide municipal organization that is dedicated to political change.
