MAYOR MILLER'S BROKEN TAX PROMISE

MAYOR MILLER ON TAX INCREASES:

"In the last three years, we've kept property tax increases at a reasonable level in line with inflation and that is my commitment for the next four." (Mayor Miller's inaugural address, December 5, 2006

As reported November 2, 2006 by CTV News, during the 2006 election campaign: "David Miller: Promising to keep future property tax hikes at or below the rate of inflation".

On top of the property tax increases, Mayor Miller has added the following new taxes onto the backs of Torontonians:

Municipal Land Transfer Tax

Motor Vehicle Registration Tax

Water Rate Increase of 9%

Garbage Bin Tax

Recreational Program Taxes

JUDGE THE MAYOR'S PROMISE

2008 Property tax increase: 3.75%

Rate of inflation: 2.4%

2007 Property tax increase: 3.8%

Toronto's rate of inflation: 1.5%
